Common questions
Is Siding Parma a siding company?
No. It is a referral line. Your call is connected to an independent siding contractor that works in Parma and the cities around it. That contractor quotes and does the work.
Can I call about a repair, not a whole new house?
Yes. Cracked or loose panels, storm damage and rot behind the siding are all reasons to call, as well as full replacement and siding for additions.
Does Ohio license siding contractors?
Not at the state level. Ohio's Department of Commerce says residential contractors are not required to be licensed by the state, but local building departments may have their own requirements (Ohio Department of Commerce). In Parma, every contractor must be registered with the Building Department before doing any work.
Do I need a permit for new siding in Parma?
Yes. Parma has a windows, siding, roofing and door permit application, and permits must be obtained before work begins (application).
What does the call cost me?
Nothing extra: it is an ordinary phone call. The contractor sets its own prices, and you decide whether to hire them.
Do you help with insurance claims?
No. This site doesn't help with insurance claims. Talk to your insurer directly about storm damage.
How do I know if the damage is only on the surface?
Press on the siding near the damage, look at the wall inside for stains, and check window sills. A contractor can lift a few courses to see the sheathing.
Is it worth repairing siding that is twenty-plus years old?
If the rest of the wall is sound and matching pieces can be found, a repair can make sense. If panels are brittle and faded all round, a replacement is often the better use of money. Ask for both prices.
Can I replace just one side of the house?
Yes, and some homeowners do when one wall takes the weather. The new wall may not match the faded ones exactly.
Is house wrap required under new siding in Parma?
Yes. The city's siding permit application says an air vapor barrier (house wrap) is required (application).
Can I cancel a siding contract signed at my door?
Under the FTC's Cooling-Off Rule, sales made at your home can be cancelled until midnight of the third business day after the sale (FTC).
My house is old. Does lead paint matter?
On homes built before 1978, contractors who disturb painted surfaces must be lead-safe certified (EPA).
Do you cover Cleveland?
This line covers Parma and the neighbors listed on the home page: Parma Heights, Seven Hills, Middleburg Heights, Broadview Heights and North Royalton.
